Howard and Vaughn, on the other hand, can’t be pleased at The Dilemma only opening to $17 million, with audiences largely turning their noses up at the new comedy. Compare that to the rousing success of True Grit, which slipped to third place with $11.2 million and has now taken in $126.4 million. Also doing well were fellow awards-friendly titles The King’s Speech (up from ninth to fourth with $9 million) and Black Swan (sticking in fifth with $8.1 million).
Sixth place found Little Fockers sliding down the charts, nabbing $7.1 million and Tron Legacy beginning its real fall at seventh with $.5.6 million. Yogi Bear clung to eighth like a bear in a tree, earning $5.3 million, while The Fighter punched its weight at ninth with $5.1 million and poor old Season of the Witch fell like a stone from third down to 10th, making $4.5 million and a $17.9 million total as it hits every branch on the flop tree on its way.
To fight crime with figures, strap on a mask and head on over to Box Office Mojo.
