New Ant-Man Posters Arrive
Shrink or Pym
Though it probably doesn’t need too much more buzz, Marvel’s latest superhero pic, Ant-Mandecided to drum some up anyway, putting out a fresh batch of character posters. And these allow us all to see at a glance what the various characters think of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang.
And it’s an interesting range of responses – Evangeline Lily’s Hope Van Dyne, for example, appears to be on the verge of flicking Scott away, while Corey Stoll’s Darren Cross somewhat naturally wants to squish our hero. The one that cranked our eyebrows the highest, though, was Lang himself. Why would he be pinching his own miniaturised form? Look closely, however, and you can see it’s Cross in his Yellowjacket suit. Well played, Marvel.
For those not in the know, Michael Douglas’s scientist Hank Pym is the inventor of the suit that lets Scott Lang get tiny and run around a lot. Pym is the man who discovered the particles that let him shrink objects and people way, way, down. He recruits Scott for a heroic heist that will let them both save not their own world, but everyone else’s. And for Scott, whose criminal record is lengthening, it’s a chance for him to be the hero his daughter sees.
They’ll have to deal with Cross, who has his own plans for the tech with his more nefarious alter ego Yellowjacket. Also along for the ride are Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, Gregg Turkington, T.I., and John Slattery, who returns as Howard Stark in flashbacks.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man hits UK screens on July 17.
